ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parbhani Tahsil of Parbhani district is bounded by latitude of 19 o 02' N and 19 o 27'N and longitude of 76 o 31' E and 76 o57' E. It covers an area of 1253 sq km in Parbhani distirict. It forms the part of Deccan Plateau. The major river flowing through this area is Godawari and its tributaries are like Purna, Dudhana and Karpara etc. Parbhani is well connected by broad gauge railway line to Metropolitan cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Banglore and Delhi.

Geographically, Parbhani is the central place of the Marathwada region and is well-linked with other places by roads and railways, however, Parbhani has remained educationally as well as commercially backward. The planning commission of India has recently identified Parbhani as one of the most backward districts of India. The black fertile soil of this region and the agricultural prosperity have not been able to develop the region academically. For a long time this region was ruled by Nizam of Hyderabad and was a neglected region in all senses. The ancient history of Parbhani goes back to 'Ashmak' and 'Mulak' kingdoms of 200 BC. The present Parbhani district was created in 1853 by Nizam.

Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal was founded in 1981 by a conspicuous group of people who dedicated themselves for a social cause. In the course of time Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal prospered on the dedication of the people in management and hard work of the people concerned with the Mandal. Now a days Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal is widely appreciated and honoured by the society for its dedication for the upliftment of the rural students. It is identified as the most eminent, ideal and solicitous educational society in the Marathawada region. Dnyanopasak College of Arts, Commerce & Science has maintained its academic prosperity in the course of time. It is widely known as an institute of excellence in academic field. The college has been making efforts to provide all pervasive education.

However, in its initial stage college made commencement of higher education in 1984 with 51 students and 9 teachers in Parbhani City. In its beginning in 1984 the college was without building and naturally classes were conducted under trees in open ground. Consequently, as the strength grew it was necessary to build the classrooms, but since it was initial stage and the Institute was not economically sound, it was determined to run the classes in the rooms constructed of wooden shades. In this way, the college was run in the wooden shades for 8 to 9 years. The entire staff of the college dedicated for the educational prosperity by working continuously. Even in such unfavorable conditions, the Institute struggled to make educational atmosphere adaptable for the education of the rural students.

As the college prospered in the course of time and when basic requirements of educational facilities were available the college earnestly thought to introduce the post graduate courses so that the rural students would be able to get P.G. education in the same college, which would be economically convenient for them. At present the college has 20 PostGraduate courses and seven of the departments are recognized as research centres by the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathawada University, Nanded. In this region, for the first time the advanced PG courses like Microbiology, Computer Science, Chemistry and MCA are introduced.

Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal's College of Arts, Commerce and Science has been organizing seminars, workshops, discussion sessions and conferences. These seminars, workshops and conferences have played a significant role in academic, social and cultural enrichment of teachers and students.

The college has been struggling to reach the excellence by providing all pervasive education through various activities linked with academic prosperity such as classroom seminars, guest lectures of the scholars through Dnyanopasak Vicharmanch, science festivals, exhibitions, cultural programs and NSS. In scheme of District Central Assessment Programme played key role in implement and consequently it is further continued by the University. The college has been identified for its best discipline and strict policy of conduction of various examinations.

It is a matter of pride that the Dnyanopasak Shikshan Mandal is being continuously guided by Shri Adv. Ganeshrao Dudhgaonkar who has been dedicating himself to generate an atmosphere of all pervasive education.
