Departments

Introduction :

             The Department of History was established at the time of the inception of this College in June 1984.  This Department is the integral part of Dnaynopasak College, Parbhani.  Porf. J.V. Deshmukh was the Head of the Department from the opening of the College.After then Dr.A.D.Shinde take the responsibility of head of the department and At the present time Dr.G.S.Pise is heading of the department. In the beginning there were very few students and two faculty members. However, in a short span of time the department has earned fame and name by way providing latest quality education and fulfilling growing needs of humanities.

          It is the goal of this institution to provide higher and quality education to the rural students.  The department has introduced Post graduation (M.A.) in History in 1994 and Ph.D.Research Centre in 2014 Besides, the department proposes to introduce short-term certificate courses in Tourism, Cultural Studies and Musicology

Strength Of the Department :

The main strength of the department is that it has highly qualified and experienced faculty members, who take efforts in imparting the knowledge of the branch to guide the students.  A part from the regular teaching hours it maintains academic discipline in the perusal of knowledge. Besides, we cultivate the virtues, moral,values, competitiveness and the spirit of team work among the students.  It also leads to all pervasive understanding.

Parbhani District Historical Heritage Project (Government of Maharashtra)

Parbhani District Historical Heritage Project Study Group was established (2020-23) through Collector Parbhani, Government of Maharashtra. In this study group, expert professors and students of art and architecture Department of History. Dnynopasak College made special contributions in surveying, data collection, writing and editing. The chief guide of the present project is *former Head of History Department Prof. Dr.A.D.Shinde. excellent photography done by Mr. Sudhir Deulgaonkar. Alumni to write and edit surveys Prof. Dr.Nitin Bawle, Prof.Dr.Avinash Khokle, Prof.Dr.Seema Nanwate, research student of History Department Nilkanth Kaldate, Vaijnath Kaldate , Alumni Nagesh Joshi and Anil Badgujar. A study group specialized in art architecture through the district administration conducted a survey of ancient art architecture in Parbhani city and villages of Parbhani district. in that area Historical, cultural, social a total of 57 villages, 53 Barav’s and 165 heritage sites were studied by the expert survey team

Interdisciplinary Research :

          History being the mother of social sciences is interdisciplinary, therefore the Department having specialization in Arts and Architectural History proposes to make application of the parameters of Art and Architecture to historical studies.

          The Department of History from its inception has been keen in terms of organizing study tours to inculcate various outstanding facets of history for the students of P.G. in every semester.  The students have been widely exposed to the different historical places and facts.

          Besides, the Department has also been generating awareness among the students in particular and the society in general about the conservation as well as the protection of the historical monuments.

          Similarly, so as to provide information to the students, the Department of History holds coin exhibition.  The students and the desirous are given information of the coins, the period of the coins and their empirical consequences in terms of socio-economic, political and cultural contexts.

Objectives

1)      To enable the students to perceive Indian and world history & culture of the society.

2)      To generate consciousness among the students and society about the conservation and the protection of historical monuments.

3)      To create scientific temperament and awareness about socio-historic issues in terms environment, secularism, diversity, gender and globalization.

4)      To trace the Art and Architectural developments of the region.

5)      To analyzes Indian history with the help of western historical concepts and theories.

6)      To prepare the students for competitive exams like NET and SET.

7)      To bring out history in the context of local historical places.

8)      To promote students to undertake research work.

9)      To conduct more Skill based activities for the Student

Future Plans

  1. To bring the Parbhani district on the tourist map of India.
  2. To equip the students with well-defined historical knowledge of history, cultural values and reformative thinking.
  3. To undertake interdisciplinary Major Research Projects in collaboration with other departments.

Introduction:

The department of fishery science established in the year 1990 to 91 with the strength of just 05 students; during the course of time the strength steadily increase in the current academic year 2021 – 2022 strength has reached 70 students.

The Fishery department has impart the basic education in fishery science to acquaint the students with diversities in fish life. The department has focused on ecological importance of fish fauna as well as sustainable use of fisheries resources for the betterment of mankind without interfering the ecosystem.

The department of fishery science undertakes the survey and projects to identify and solve the problems of local area on fishery point of view. The fishery science students making aware about the resent trends in the development of fishery science.

Objectives:

  • To understand the discoveries and exploitation of fishes for the benefits of human civilization.
  • To help the students to generate self-employment in fishery science.

Scope of  Subject:

Job potential after P.G in Government and Private organisation as fisheries development officer and Manager in Processing industries.

As a fishery students opportunities are available in various  fishery institutions of India like

i) Central marine fisheries Research institute – CMFRI – at Kerela Cochin in 1971

ii) Central institute of fisheries Technology – CIFT – at KerelaCoachin in 1957

iii) Central institute of fisheries Education – CIFE – at Maharashtra Mumbai in 1961

iv) Central institute of freshwater Aquaculture – CIFA – at Orissa cuttack in 1949

v) Fisheries survey of India – FSI – at Maharashtra Mumbai in 1946

vi) National institute for oceanography – NIO – at Goa Dona Paula in1966

Teaching and Learning

 The department of fishery science has separate laboratory with required facilities such as light, fans, continuous water supply and furniture. The department has a fishmuseum, which consists of variety of fresh and Marine waters fish specimens, different Crafts, Gears models, Aquarium sets and self-explanatory educative charts. All these instruments are used to give hands on training to the students.

Audio visual CD's, LCD Projector, Computers, GIS and other Software, Internet Facilities, departmental Library etc is available for Students.

Extension Activities:

            On the occasion of Independence day, Republic day, Marathwadamuktisangram as well as University foundation day students use to publish the wall posters under the guidance of teaching faculty under the title of ” Blue Revolution”.

The topic of wall posters are not only subject related but also it is useful for all faculty students and for current socio economic problem of the region.

On the occasion of “Gandhi Jayanti” faculty and students celebrate and delivered the open speech on historic leader and their personality.

  • The department has identified the freshwater fishes of this region the department actively participates for arranging visit to fish seed hatchery, different reservoirs and local fish market.
  • The department of fishery Science also arranged to visit the coastal sea area to study the marine water fishes.

Introduction  

The institution commenced undergraduate course in 1984 and stepped up in 1992 to begin with post-graduation. In 2002 it has reached to height in having recognized research centre. Department is running these course efficiently to date.

The faculty of the department comprises twelve teaching positions. The department has enrolled 180 students for UG, 47 for PG and 09 as doctoral scholars.

  Total built up area of department is 5400 sq. ft. Each student use to perform his/her allotted practical and project work in respective laboratories in eco-friendly atmosphere. Department comprises well equipped laboratories and advanced investigating instruments. Research facilities are provided to the students coming from remote area. Department library is enriched with reference materials such as back journals, reference book and awarded thesis. Number of research journals and more than 2000 books are available in the central library too. Internet facility helps the students to access research journals free of cost.

The department is well recognized for its academic and research activities not only locally but also globally. Its growing reputation in the field is well acknowledged by the fact that department has obtained the university grant commission assistance to strengthen the ongoing research work by CPE-BSR, RUSA schemes.  

The seven minor / major research projects of UGC, DST are in the name of department in completed form, which supports small pharma companies and other department of college for their regularly requirement, analysis method and validation etc. The department is engaged for the preparation of UGC-CSIR and Shamaprasad Mukharji fellowships.

The pioneer research work is flourishing in the area of medicinal chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, green chemistry, co-ordination chemistry and chemical kinetics. At present department has collaboration with national and international research laboratories.

The entire faculty members play active role in research, which is counted by publications of more than 201 research papers in peer reviewed national and international journals.

To put forth the achievement proudly we have 24 research scholars who have been awarded with doctoral degree and 60 students who have qualified SET/NET/GATE/JRF examinations are the product of guidance centre run here.

Our department has been honoured as a ‘Star Department” by UGC under the scheme named college for potential with excellence (CPE) as it follows the aims and objectives.

The department has a Geology museum, which consists of variety of rock, minerals, ores, fossil samples, geomorphic models and self-explanatory educative charts. The department has state of the art instrumentation for geological, geochemical, geophysical, geographical and environmental studies. Department of Computer Science was established in 1990. This was first department in entire University area. It offers many courses from junior college to research level.
